Jono Hardware, has a history like many older businesses in Lebanon County. As one man’s business and entrepreneurship died out another one took its place. As often happens in this sort of scenario the needs of the building changed and another piece was tacked on until eventually it ends up being a very pieced together building with limited efficiency and usefulness. The team at Earth & Sky Design worked with the owner to develop a plan to regrade a large portion of the site, construct a new retail building setback from the road further, and repurpose the most recent addition as a new warehouse and dock area, all while the existing hardware store remained open. It was a bold move, but with careful consideration we designed a plan to update the site and facility into a modern and efficient hardware store.
